About Tara

The Nordgren lab performs research that intersects the fields of lung toxicology, immunology, lipid signaling, and environmental health. A primary research goal focuses on identifying how environmental dust exposures impact inflammation, injury, and repair in the lung. Ongoing research includes investigating the potentials of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid-derived lipid mediators in resolving lung inflammation associated with agricultural dust exposures. The Nordgren lab also investigates how different environmental dust exposures impact the activation and functioning of key structural and immune effector cells in the lung, including lung-resident mesenchymal stem/stromal cells, bronchial epithelial cells, and alveolar macrophages. We are excited to welcome new members to the Nordgren lab! Please contact Dr. Nordgren directly regarding research training opportunities at the undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral levels.
