Dr. Kevin Ciminski is interested in understanding virus-host interactions of emerging zoonotic viruses, including the host immune response to viral infection, immunopathology, and transcriptional consequences. He has a particular interest in comparative virology and immunology, studying species-specific differences in the immune response and the strategies viruses have evolved to evade host recognition. Current projects investigate the interaction of bat influenza A viruses of subtypes H9N2 and H18N11 in their natural bat reservoir.
